MEMA is pleased to release a new study, commissioned by MEMA and conducted by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), that shows the human and economic benefits advanced driver assist system (ADAS) technologies offer if only they were more widely in use. Our goal is to educate decision makers on the promise of these innovations, as well as motivate the government, consumers and other stakeholders to take concrete steps to speed adoption of these available and emerging technologies.
The study, titled A Roadmap to Safer Driving Through Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, concludes that, if new-car buyers invested in the most common ADAS features currently available, this widespread adoption of ADAS features could:
Avoid approximately 28 percent of all motor vehicle crashes in the United States;
Prevent about 9,900 fatalities per year; and
Save more than $250 billion in societal costs each year.
