MEMA Commercial Vehicle Quarterly Supplier Barometer

The MEMA Commercial Vehicle Supplier Barometer is a quarterly report published by the MEMA research department and is compiled from business data reported by our commercial vehicle members. Reports are available only to MEMA members. 

For the second quarter of 2023, survey respondents reported a neutral outlook, with the existing backlog still pushing current sales as the major positive, while forecasting and economic uncertainty is the major negative. Additionally, the annual customer balance of power check indicates that most consider the dynamic balanced; however, comments indicate concern for cost recovery during upcoming CSA negotiations.

The anonymously reported results include estimated current and next year truck builds, raw materials recovery cost percentages, current business conditions, as well as risks and trends being experienced in the market.

• Business planning activities of hiring, inventory and production capacity levels

• Performance of both the OES and independent aftermarket channels
