MEMA to Host Safety Technology Panel at Washington Auto Show

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) will continue its series of timely panel discussions on topics critical to the motor vehicle supplier community during the upcoming Washington DC Auto Show. The panel discussion, “Safety’s Unfinished Business,” will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at the Washington Auto Show Public Policy Days.
 
The panel will focus on policy issues and safety technologies that will likely affect consumers in the coming year, including advanced driver assistance systems, an enhanced New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), the future of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) rulemaking, and automated vehicle legislation. We will look at what consumers need to know about upcoming policies, regulations, and legislation that pertain to safety technologies. The panel will be moderated by Tom Lehner, vice president of policy, MEMA and panelists will be: Doug Patton, executive vice president and chief technical officer, DENSO; and David Zuby, executive vice president and chief research officer for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
 
The event is a continuation of MEMA’s new Policy Panel Series, which was launched in 2017 and aims to highlight and explain the complexities of critical issues that affect the motor vehicle supplier industry, such as tax reform, trade, workforce development, safety, and intellectual property.
 
With this policy panel series, MEMA, which represents the largest sector of manufacturing jobs in the US, has taken on a leadership role for the industry as legislators and regulators address issues that affect the motor vehicle industry.
