CBP No Longer Accepting Requests for Payment Delays Due to COVID-19

In a Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS) message published on March 26, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that it will no longer accept requests from trade groups for additional time to pay tariffs, fees, and other expenses due to the impacts of COVID-19. The CBP will still permit extra days for “narrow circumstances” such as for trade groups with a, “physical inability to file entry or payments, due to technology outages or port closures.”
